We encourage Moms, Dads, Grandparents, and other family members (with your approval) to join your children on any, or all, of our many Families Connection opportunities scheduled throughout the school year. Family Connections at Main Street Early Learning Center

Family Connections are very important at Main Street Early Learning Center. We encourage Moms, Dads, Grandparents, and other family members (with your approval) to join your children on any, or all, of our many Family Connection opportunities scheduled throughout the school year.

Opportunities to join your children are not just limited to scheduled Family Connection events. Children love it when their Moms, Dads, or other family members join them in their normal preschool, VPK, or Before-After School Care (Guaranteed Homework Program).

Each classroom has a calendar of special events in which Parents and other family members are encouraged to attend. Below is a general planning list for some of our more important Family Connection events. Scheduled dates will be published in our monthly newsletter. Remember:

Time with your child is a perishable commodity... Once it's gone, it's gone! Make the most of this special time with your child.

Schedule a Visit

Family Connection Events

  • Back to School Luncheon: Pack a lunch for you and your child and come meet them for lunch! This is a great opportunity for you to see your child's classroom and talk with them about their day.
  • School Supply Donation: Each child's classroom will post a wish list for supplies that will be needed throughout the year. The class that collects the most supplies will receive an ice cream party.
  • Grandparent's Day: Grandparents, come join your grandchild for story time with their class! Milk and cookies will be provided.
  • Open House: Come meet your child's teacher and tour their classroom. This is an excellent time for parents to explore how our curriculum is implemented in the classroom as well as meet your child's friends and their families. Dinner will be provided.
  • Scholastic Book Fair: Once or twice each year we sponsor a scholastic book fair. Please ask your preschool director when these special events will be scheduled.
  • Visit From Our Local Fire Department: The Dunedin Fire Department will come and visit with our students. They will read stories with the students, talk about fire safety, and take the children on a tour of a real fire truck.
  • Community Helpers: Come share your profession with our students. This is a fun way for parents to share with their child's class. Please see Ms. Tonya to sign up!
  • Fall Parties: Come celebrate with your child. Students are permitted to wear their costumes to school on this day. Please look for sign-up sheets posted in your child's classroom.
  • Fall Portraits: Our school Photographer will be here for two days taking photos of your precious little one. Our Two's and Three's will be photographed on the first day and VPK students will be photographed on the second day.
  • Donuts for Dad: Dads enjoy a quick donut and juice before heading off to work.
  • Canned Food Drive: We will be accepting canned goods at our center for donation to a local food bank.
  • Teddy Bear Picnic: Each child will bring a teddy bear to school and enjoy a picnic-style lunch. Parents are welcome!
  • Make-N-Take: Come spend a few minutes when picking up your child to make a special craft with them. Cookies and juice will be provided.
  • Santa's Visit: Santa will make his appearance at Main Street Early Learning Center!
  • Literacy Night: Come join us for singing and story-telling. We will sing songs, learn finger plays, and use props for story-telling.
  • Valentine Make-N-Take: Come create a valentine for your child. We will provide parents and other family members with creative supplies. Parents can design a valentine that will be delivered to your child during their classroom party.
  • Valentine's Day Parties: Each child will exchange cards with fellow class members and have a special treat. Please look for sign-up sheets posted in your child's classroom.
  • Celebrate Dr. Seuss: Look for our fun-filled week-long schedule of Dr. Seuss activities.
  • St. Patrick's Day: We will be celebrating the luck-o-the-Irish with green food. Please look for sign-up sheets posted in your child's classroom.
  • Spring Portraits: Our school photographer will be here for two days taking individual and class photos as well as VPK graduation photos. Our two and three-year-olds will be photographed the first day and our VPK classes will be photographed on the second day.
  • Spring Parties: Each class will have a chance to hunt for colorful eggs during their outside time. Parents are welcome to volunteer or just come enjoy the festivities. Please look for sign-up sheets posted in your child's classroom.
  • Mother's Day Tea: Come join your little one for a spot of tea to celebrate mom. In the afternoon we will have a tea party with a special Mother's Day story.
  • VPK Graduation: Graduation for all of our VPK students will be held at First United Methodist Church of Dunedin. Each child will be performing on stage and will receive a diploma of graduation. Refreshments will be served after the ceremony.
